"Woman is a dream of men"
J. Lacan, "Geneva Lectures on the Symptom"
Whether man dreams of Venus or of the Madonna, of Lilith, Diana, or the Gorgon, of a whore or of his mother … at the end of all his dreams there’s only ab-sense. Of Woman, there is not only One, and they are all escapees from any definition : fleeting notes, strangers to the score, they are evanescent and not-all graspable. They do not cease to escape from man who dreams of them all the more. One never better deludes oneself than about Woman.
