Le un et le multiple « versus » diversité

L’aggiornamento impulsée par l’AMP a placé au coeur de la réflexion institutionnelle des écoles la dialectique entre le Un et le multiple. Elle se présente différemment en fonction de l’expérience et de l’histoire de chaque école : comment concevoir le rapport au Un de l’orientation lacanienne quand il n’y a pas de centre géographique vers lequel converger ? Comment traiter les tentations localistes du type «eux et nous» ? Comment situer l’implication des non membres dans l’école, celle des plus jeunes notamment ?

L’expérience de la NEL montre que cela rend d’autant plus nécessaire que le UN de l’Ecole se matérialise, à partir d’une puissance d’appel de l’Ecole, dans différents lieux. Comme J.-A. Miller l’a éclairé, l’Ecole peut ainsi s’incarner à différents moments, tantôt dans une ville, tantôt dans une autre.

Cette réflexion intervient en un temps où le moment présent impose partout à l’échelle planétaire le signifiant de la diversité. Il est intéressant de revenir aux sources américaines de cette notion avec ses implications au plan idéologique, éthique et politique…

The One and the Multiple “versus” Diversity

The aggiornamento driven by the WAP has placed at the heart of the schools’ institutional reflection the dialectic between the One and the multiple. It presents itself differently depending on the experience and history of each school. How can the relation to the One of the Lacanian Orientation be conceived when there is no geographical centre towards which to converge? How can we treat localist temptations of the “them and us” type? How can we situate the involvement of non-members in the school, particularly that of the youngest?

The experience of the NEL shows that this makes it all the more necessary that the ONE of the School materialises, starting from a power of the School’s call, in different locations. As J.-A. Miller has explained, the School can thus become embodied at different moments, sometimes in one town, sometimes in another.

This reflection comes at a time when the signifier of diversity is being imposed everywhere, globally. It is interesting to return to the American sources of this notion, with its ideological, ethical and political implications…

In 2024-25 we will work on the theme of love according to Lacan's development of it.

The seminar will take place monthly in the autumn of 2024. For the first seminar on 7/9/24, René Rasmussen will talk about love, desire and jouissance. In addition, a one-day seminar will be held on the 27th October, where the focus will be on the earlier Lacan's development of love.

Lacan Study Group We invite you to read Jacques Lacan's Seminar I: Freud's Papers on Technique. In principle, we will look at how Lacan examines the phenomenon of resistance and the meaning of the Freudian "ego" to construct – among other things – a fundamental question for psychoanalysis: Which subject speaks? These meetings will be held in English.
