¡Urgent! Is the title of the next Congress of the New Lacanian School (NLS). It will take place in Tel Aviv on the 1^st and 2^nd of June, 2019.

Clinical urgency, the urgency of the speaking being, the urgency of the parlêtre. Like a solid, urgency is a problem that can be approached from different angles. It can be approached from the angle of trauma, but also from that of the moment of entry into treatment, or equally from that of its end where it is linked to the question of satisfaction. It can be approached by exploring the way those with mental suffering are received in institutional settings. In short, this is a theme that is a logical extension of previous congresses, with the urgency that is pressing in the current state of our School and of civilization. This urgency underlines the ethical commitment of the NLS in the debate about global citizenship.[1]

Call for Papers

Dear Colleagues,

Preparations for the Congress are underway and being conducted with great enthusiasm in the company of our Israeli colleagues. We have established a lively and collaborative working relationship between the Congress Organizing Committee in Tel Aviv and the Executive Committee. We meet regularly. We all met in Paris last July, and in recent months Alexandre and Frank have visited the locale. I'll be going there next January. We had a meeting recently in Brussels with Sharon (the Congress director in Israel) and some members of her team. More meetings are planned to take place between now and next June. Our Israeli colleagues have shown us the magnificent Palace that will be our venue. We will provide you with information about all this in the weeks to come. In short, the Congress promises to be magnificent. I also know (because my colleagues on the Executive Committee are actively involved in the Knottings seminars and because Frank has indicated that Cartels towards the Congress are well underway) that you, the members of the NLS, have also been very active.

Many of you have told me that you would like to have an opportunity to bear witness to your work at the Congress. So, we have decided to organize parallel sessions with simultaneous interpretation in Tel Aviv.

For this 2019 Congress, I therefore ask you to send us proposals for papers for the parallel sessions. The preparatory work involved in organizing these sessions represents a considerable amount of work. I would therefore like to urge you to scrupulously respect the instructions below. To relieve the secretarial work, where these instructions have not been followed, we will be returning texts to their authors to be resubmitted as requested.

Only twenty-four texts will be selected. One must know how to say no. And one must also know how to accept a refusal. It will not be easy for those who have invested all their effort in a piece of work that ends up not being selected.

There will be four parallel sessions whose themes are as follows:

Urgent Political Times
Haste and the Act (The lion only leaps once)
The Urgency that Doesn’t Stop (It's always urgent)
Urgency and Satisfaction (Knowing how to do with one’s symptom)
Trauma
Subjective Urgency (Rupture of the signifying chain)
Urgent Cases
Urgency in Institutions

You are invited to submit a contribution in line with the theme of the Congress.

It is not necessary to send us an argument. Present a definitive text that must meet the following guidelines:

The text must be written in one of the two languages of the NLS: English or French.
The text cannot exceed 6500 characters including spaces (10 minutes).
It must be written in Times New Roman font, font size 12.
At the top of the page please write:

The title of your contribution
Your name followed by your first name
Your e-mail address
Your phone number preceded by the prefix of your country.
The document must have page numbers.
The texts must, without exception, be sent before 15 March 2019.

Your text will be read by the Scientific Committee. You will be informed of its decision. Either it will be accepted, or it will not be accepted, or you will be asked to revise it. In this case, a mentor will be assigned to you to help you establish the final version

Be nice! Please follow these instructions scrupulously. We will not make these changes for you if the text does not respect these guidelines. In this case, we will send your text back to you and ask you to make the necessary changes.

PRESENTATION

There is not a moment to lose. The acceleration of culture and the vertiginous pressure of thedrive seem to collapse the instant to see, the time to understand and the moment to conclude. The urgent subject of the now cannot catch up to rapid cycles of political upheaval and social media streams turned into torrents of data. Production overflows consumption in a tidal wave of imaginary cacophony. How does psychoanalysis today respond to urgent times?

For its 6th issue, The Lacanian Review (TLR) tasks the signifier, Urgent!, to orient the work of the New Lacanian School (NLS) in examining the urgent cases that occupy our clinic in preparation for the 2019 NLS Congress in Tel Aviv: ¡URGENT!
.

Tracing the edge of the latest Lacan, Bernard Seynhaeve (President of the NLS) curated a series of newly established texts by Jacques Lacan and Jacques-Alain Miller, translated by Russell Grigg, appearing in the first ever bilingual featured section of TLR. Four lessons from theseminars of Jacques-Alain Miller frame this issue.

TLR 6 draws heavily from the work of the current Analysts of the School to explore four new fundamental concepts of psychoanalysis: Pass, Real Unconscious, Urgent Cases, and Satisfaction. Interviews with Angelina Harari (President of the WAP), Ricardo Seldes (Director of Pausa), and Lee Edelman (Professor of English Literature at Tufts University) elaborate fundamental concepts across the work of the School One, the clinic of applied analysis, and literary theory in dialogue with psychoanalysis. A groundbreaking orientation text by Éric Laurent from the 2018 Congress of the World Association of Psychoanalysis (WAP) will be published for the first time in English, along with clinical cases exploring transference and psychosis. And finally, approaching the problem of temporality in psychoanalysis, this issue spans Freudian time-management to the logic of the cut in the Lacanian Orientation.

	From the Trace to the Cause – Céline Aulit It has now been proven: sexual traumas imprint their mark in DNA which by return engenders the cause. The Real is now inscribed in our genetic or neuronal heritage and is susceptible to radioscopy. In the place of the unconscious as a ciphering machine, what becomes substituted is a discourse of number that attempts to enclose jouissance in a neural circuit. The Real no longer raises itself as an obstacle which requires a knowing how to do with it via the symptom; as Neus Carbonell underlines: the subject, in its singularity, in the process of disappearing becomes at the same time a species comparable to all others. Moreover, this consideration of the Real is nowadays that which widens the deepening gap between psychoanalysis and psychology which, more than ever, has "decided to adopt the finery of the discourse of science" [1] and thus enter the world of the quantifiable; the world of evaluation. What Helen Bonnaud points out in this respect in her opening text, seems very enlightening to me: the brain becomes the principle responsible for the suffering of the speaking being, thus depriving him of any possibility of initiating the signifying machine with respect to its jouissance. As you may have already gathered, a-kephalos is the name of the Newsletter that will lead us to the Congress Pipol 9 which is being held on the 13th and 14th of July, under the title “The Unconscious and the Brain: Nothing in Common.” Without doubt, you will be drawn into the dark corridors of this new discourse, in particular via the section radioscopy of the neurosciences; but you will mostly hear about the unconscious, through a questioning of the place of the drive, or in the collection of testimonies from analysts who have gone to the end of the experience. In the first four issues of a-kephalos you will find passionate texts written by our correspondents from the four corners of Europe. To familiarize yourself with the axes which will constitute the structure of this Blog, I invite you to immerse yourself in the argument authored by Yves Vanderveken, director of the Pipol 9 Congress.
