Study Day; From the Clinic to the Epoch and Back

” ….the most singular and private of analytic experience on the analytic divan has social and political consequences. There is a social divan, in fact, although the analyst cannot analyze groups of people, there is a subjectivity of the time. One can take civilization as a subject, Freud already did it.  If one operates this reversibility of “the subjectivity of the epoch”, stating that it is the subject itself of analytic experience, it is a matter of seeing what conclusions we draw from what we hear in analytic experience to respond to certain moments, to certain impasses of civilization, to certain social and political problems.” (Miquel Bassols, 2014)
For this study day in the Giep, we are happy to host colleagues from Vienna, who will present their work in an international cartel. Two more sessions will take place, in which members will present clinical and / or theoretical vignettes, with contributions from commentators. The sessions will be followed by a conversation.
