Rebecca, étudiante, dira lors d’une séance qu’elle « fait de l’anxiété, qu’elle est une usine à anxiété », que c’est son « fonds de commerce ». Son discours reste collé à cette anxiété et même si les termes changent, ce mot revient inlassablement à la même place. Or, comme le rappelle Alexandre Stevens dans l’argument du congrès de la NLS, Lacan a pu dire dans le séminaire XVII, l’Envers, « que la répétition n’est pensable, n’a de valeur qu’à partir de la jouissance ». « Anxiété, travail pour l’université et fatigue » sont pour Rebecca une manière de se définir sans pour autant associer autour de cela.

Fixion and Fixation

The fundamental fantasy is a solution through which the neurotic subject finds an answer to a confrontation with the real that is a lack in the Other. Such an answer is always the same and fixed, covering up the emptiness of signification. This inertia of the fantasy and its repetition is how the subject is related to the Other through the object a. By means of the subject’s response, there is a function and know-how in the fantasy. Traumatic Fixation in Caravaggio

As if emanating from his very bones, Caravaggio painted without hesitation directly onto the canvas. It is said he created a new language of theatrical realism, by choosing his models in the street (1). In every scene, he depicts the most dramatic instant, immortalizing moments in which jouissance imposes itself beyond words – particularly in sacred themes like The Taking of Christ or The Crucifixion of Saint Peter. Such dramatic representations of an “Other jouissance” – a jouissance of the body, as A. Stevens explains (2) – differ from those emanating from dreams or symptoms, which express either a prohibition or lifting of repression.

Ribble, bobble, pimlico … vous dites ?

Christoph Marthaler, directeur de théâtre suisse, met en scène « Aucune idée », pièce que je viens de voir à Vidy, Lausanne. Une scène m’intéresse particulièrement dans ce « délicieux théâtre de l’absurde », comme le nomme la critique des Inrocks. Le protagoniste et complice de longue date du directeur, Graham F. Valentine, acteur et musicien écossais, déclame le texte de Kurt Schwitters (mouvement dada) « Ribble, Bobble, Pimlico »(1). Pendant quelques minutes, les mots sont dits, chantés, murmurés, grincés, hachés, coupés ; l’artiste les fait chuter, s’envoler, craquer, ronronner… dans une répétition qui s’avère de plus en plus hilarante. Toutes les intonations de la voix d’un grand interprète y passent. L’effet est comique, un enfant dans la salle riait à gorge déployée.
